GRAPEVIEW COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Annual Meeting

Friday, January 9, 2009

Linda Fish, president, called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Anniversaries and birthdays were recognized.

Dale Almlie, superintendent of Grapeview School, spoke about the upcoming school levy for North Mason Schools. If it passes, then residents of the Grapeview School District will need to approve and increase in the levy rate in order to send our students to North Mason High School. Mr. Almlie encourages everyone to talk with neighbors about the issues and implications for the school assessments on property.

Linda gave a summary of activities of the GCA in 2008. She thanked Lori Stark, outgoing treasurer, and Lowell Mahugh, outgoing trustee, for their years of service. She introduced the new officers: Pam Berger, secretary; Stephanie Paulson, treasurer, and Larry Grumme, trustee.

Stephanie Paulson reported on Lori’s behalf that GCA has a current balance in savings and checking of approximately $27,000.

Cliff Cotey announced that the GCA board has voted to provide a $2,500 scholarship this spring to a graduating senior who attended Grapeview School.

Stephanie Paulson presented the second reading of amendments to the bylaws and moved their adoption. After discussion, the suggested amendment to ARTICLE IX– Executive Board, Section 2, was dropped, since it seemed to be in conflict with the duties of the trustees.

            The following amendments were approved:

1.       ARTICLE IV – Membership, Section 4. A. Associate Members. Shall be ten (10) through 17 years of age.

2.       ARTICLE V – Meetings. Section1. Regular meetings of the Association shall be held on the second Friday of odd numbered months unless otherwise determined by the Executive Board.

3.       ARTICLE V – Meetings. Section 2. The election of officers for the coming year shall be held at the regular November meeting.

4.       ARTICLE V – Meetings. Section 4. Add Notice of such a meeting, including the purpose, shall be given two weeks in advance of the meeting.

5.       ARTICLE V. – Meetings. Section 6. A quorum shall consist of thirty (30) voting members of the Association.

6.       ARTICLE VII – Duties of Officers. Section 4. The Treasurer shall receive all funds of the Association; pay all bills authorized by the association or the Executive Board; keep an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements; and issue a bimonthly financial report for all Association accounts.

Kim Cimmery reported that there are still many tickets available for the Feb. 13 Crab Feed, and that most of the tickets for Feb. 14 are sold. A few more volunteers are also needed.

Linda adjourned the meeting at 8 PM.
