| Memorial Weekend Relay for Life Garage Sale - posted - Tuesday, April 16, 2013
GARAGE SALE MEMORIAL WEEKEND 2013
The sale will be held at:
830 E. Treasure Island Drive, Allyn, WA 98524
starting at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 25th and
8:00AM, Sunday, May 26th, 2013 on Memorial weekend.
This is the 3rd Annual Garage Sale to help the fight against cancer. Many of you can identify with us in your own personal loss. We are saddened by your loss, but we are all going to pull together to help make a difference.
This is our story:
In May of 1998 our son Todd,at age 25, was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer. He was the oldest of our three children; Troy then 24 and Tina then 21. Tina joined Relay for Life shortly after her brother’s death in June of 1999 and has been active in Relay for Life ever since. We have been right by her side in the fight against cancer and have added the garage sales for another way of raising donation money for cancer research.
Here is how it works: you clean out your garages, kitchen, shops, sheds, houses and you donate the "treasures" that you find to our garage sale. We sell the items that you donate and give 100% of the proceeds to THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. All the items that you donate are tax deductible. The first year we donated about $1100 and last year it was just over $3300. We can even make it easier for you by picking up your "treasures" at your home. Please call Cheri at 253-569-9379. We will start collecting May 6th and take donations until May 24th, 2013.
If you do not have treasures that you would like to donate, you may come shopping or send checks made payable to The American Cancer Society. Your checks are tax deductible. Send checks to:
830E. Treasure Island Drive, Allyn, WA 98524.
Thank you for your support,
Tom and Cheri Swettenam (253-569-9379)and Tina Keogh

| Free State Park days - updated - Monday, March 11, 2013
Plan a Trip - FREE DAYS Washington State Parks.
Following are the 2013 Washington State Parks “free days”:
June 1: National Trails Day
June 8 - 9: National Get Outdoors Day and WDFW Free Fishing weekend
Aug. 4: Peak summer season free day
Sept. 28: National Public Lands Day
Nov. 9 - 11: Veteran’s Day weekend
Hint: Click on the photos to go to the park website.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission 2013 State Parks “free days,” when the Discover Pass will not be required of visitors venturing out to enjoy their state parks, are listed below.
The “free days” are in keeping with legislation that created the Discover Pass, a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit required on state-managed recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources. The Discover Pass legislation provided that State Parks could designate up to 12 “free days” when the pass would not be required to visit state parks. The free days only apply at state parks. A Discover Pass will still be required to access DFW and DNR lands.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission manages a diverse system of more than 100 state parks and recreation programs statewide. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreation opportunities on a diverse array of park landscapes, from Pacific Ocean beaches to forest and mountain trails and the sweeping river gorge vistas of Eastern Washington. State Parks also offers historic areas and interpretive facilities. For more information, visit the State Parks web site at www.parks.wa.gov. For information about the Discover Pass, visit online at http://www.DiscoverPass.wa.gov.
